Inspiring to Believe. That was the theme of this year’s TEDxAshburn event on September 27, 2014. This was our second year photographing TEDxAshburn and once again, the speakers were truly educational and inspiring. TEDxAshburn is independently organized by Virginia educators. Live speakers and TED Talk videos combine to spark deep discussion and connections. Presenters are invited to share their insights and inspire conversations about the future of education. TEDxAshburn operates under license from TED, organizers of the immensely popular TED Conference and TED.com website.
Patti Phillips addresses the audience.
Janet & Jeffrey Platenberg co-hosted the event. Next up was Timothy Flynn who talked about how to foster student achievement. It was great to hear from such fine educators.
Brett Eastburn gave a talk that was both funny and inspiring. Brett was born with a condition he calls Quadmembral Limbs Deficiency, which means he was born with no arms or legs. He talked about how that didn’t stop him from participating in baseball, football, basketball, wrestling, swimming and the martial arts growing up.
When Janet Platenberg introduced Stowegood, the auditorium was filled with beautiful music. Stowe Dailey and Karen Taylor Good are accomplished singer-songwriters, authors and inspirational speakers. They talked about how to combat everything from aging to cancer with the right outlook on life.
Michael S. Kuczala addresses the audience.
J. Ivy inspires the audience with his poetry.
When Jeffery Platenberg got up to introduce the final speaker, we knew we were in for a treat. J. Ivy was a speaker at last years event and is a very inspirational speaker. A Grammy Award winning artist, Ivy is a master of Hip-Hop poetry and gave a wonderful performance along with a passionate talk about rising above hard times. Thanks to the organizers of TEDxAshburn for putting together another great conference and inviting us to help document it! Keep an eye out for next year’s event and attend if you can. It is truly a wonderful event! Get the latest news from TEDxAshburn at http://www.tedxashburn.com/
